This calculator ensures you order the correct amount of seed for your specific field size and conditions.

Methodology

The calculator uses a target population of 2 000 000 plants/acre at 6-inch row spacing with 250 000 seeds per pound. Seeds needed = (Population / Germination rate) × Acres, then converted to pounds and 50-lb bags. Planting depth for grass seed is 0.125-0.25 inches.
