Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Assuming all materials weigh the same — gravel weighs 3.5 times more than mulch per cubic yard.
• Not accounting for moisture content, which can increase weight by 20-40% for soil and compost.
• Exceeding truck weight limits — a standard dump truck holds 10-14 cubic yards but may only carry 20 tons.
• Ordering by volume alone without checking if the delivery truck can legally haul that weight.
